Our key partner ATLAS – Association of Tourism and Leisure Education and Research organized the first INCOME Tourism / NTG webinar last September. There were 15 participants that joined the special track on Tourism Education, Employability and Industry with 5 presentations from 5 different perspectives/countries via the online webinar. The presentations focused on questions of how HEIs can foster employability of tourism students by addressing the right skills and on effective methods of teaching and training in close cooperation with the tourism industry and HEIs.READ MORE
The year 2020 will be a defining year for Research & Development at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). Brand new ‘labs’ and facilities have been established that support the research and development (R&D) and business and innovation (B&I) departments of this Higher Educational Institute. READ MORE
On October 19, Dr Sheena Carlisle from the Next Tourism Generation Alliance partner, Cardiff Met, participated in a timely panel discussion on “Skills Proofing our Young People for the Future”. This stakeholder event was organised by Careers Wales, the Careers department of the Welsh Assembly Government in the Department of Education. This inaugural event was opened by Ken Skates, Minister of Economy and Transport, (see above photo) with Kirsty Williams, Minister for Education. READ MORE
On October 9, the Next Tourism Generation Alliance partner, Cardiff Met, attended a Visit Wales Roadshow to learn of the new tourism strategy 2020-2025. The roadshow for the South-East region of Wales was held at Miskin Manor which has Green Key accreditation. READ MORE
“Employment in tourism in the digital age” was the central theme of the conference organised by SEGITTUR on World Tourism Day at the Impact Hub Madrid on 27 September. Our Next Tourism Generation Alliance key partner CEHAT presented the efforts of the Alliance.
The aim of this conference was to analyse how employment is evolving in the tourism sector, which has been undergoing a digital transformation in recent years, making it necessary for staff to develop new skills to respond to the needs of the sector.READ MORE
The Next Tourism Generation Alliance project leader Silvia Barbone from Federturismo Confindustria will be present at the OECD get together in Paris on Wednesday 2 October. The OECD is the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. During this meeting, Silvia will give an update on the progress of the NTG project at the “Preparing the tourism workforce for the digital future” session. Furthermore, the emphasis will be on the explanation of the preparation of the European Commission’s Blueprint for Sectoral Co-operation on Skills. READ MORE
On September 12, the Hungarian Spa Tourism Association organized the Spa Tourism Manpower Workshop where managers and employees of thermal hotels and spa’s and higher educational institutes gathered together. On Friday 20th September, INCOME Tourism and the Next Tourism Generation Alliance organize a Webinar on the main theme ‘Tourism Education, Employability and Industry – University interaction’. This webinar will be hosted by the University of Girona at the ATLAS Annual Conference. This event is organized by NTG key partner ATLAS.
The NTG partners will gather together in Madrid in order to discuss the progress of the project at the 4th NTG Consortium meeting. The past semester will be reviewed and upcoming action plans will be considered and explained to all the key partners. READ MORE
