Also\, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic\, many jobs in the sector have changed rapidly and new ones have emerged. At the start of the PANTOUR project\, a thorough secondary data analysis has been conducted on current and future skills needs for the tourism industry. Existing data has been analysed\, such as from global and European industry reports\, EU policy documents\, consultancy papers and academic research. This has rendered a broad understanding of the status of skills in the tourism industry and what is needed for the future. In this session\, we will share some first insight from these analyses. \n  \nProgram 11:00 – 12:00 am CET (10:00 – 11:00 am GMT) \nIntroduction PANTOUR – Ana Maria Camps (PANTOUR project leader and CEHAT \nSkills intelligence: Current and future skills needs in tourism – Dr. Corné Dijkmans (Head of Research at Breda University of Applied Sciences) \nDebate on the future of Skills Intelligence in Tourism from a wide European perspective (country input from Spain\, Portugal\, Finland\, Bulgaria\, France) and next steps for PANTOUR. \n  \nJoin the webinar \nTo join the webinar click here \n  \nFor those interested: right afterwards\, the Pact for Skills in Tourism Stakeholder meeting will take place from 12.00 – 13.00 pm CET\, feel free to join. \n  \nAbout PANTOUR | Pact for Next Tourism Generation Skills \nIn June 2022\, the Tourism Blueprint Strategy was delivered to the European Commission by the Next Tourism Generation Alliance (NTG). It was the result of more than four years of work and research about skills and training in the tourism sector in Europe. This strategy stated how to promote skills development in order to achieve better tasks development in any job position. As it was discovered\, the same skills are used for different tasks and allow professionals to develop different job positions. This way\, professionals must be trained on skills while they will be taught in operational tasks in their positions. From this point\, a new project was submitted to an ERASMUS+ call\, “Pact for Next Tourism Generation Skills – PANTOUR.

SUMMARY:The Next Tourism Generation: The transition of green\, digital and social skills development
DESCRIPTION:NTG Final Conference\nThe Next Tourism Generation: The transition of green\, digital and social skills development in tourism\nJune 9th 2022\, 10:00 – 17:15 CET \n  \nScroll down to jump directly to the live streams links and join one or more sessions on the 9th of June 2022\, starting at 10:00 CET \n  \nThe Next Tourism Generation project is the first European partnership and alliance for improving a collaborative and productive relationship between education\, government\, and industry. The NTG Alliance provides employees\, employers\, entrepreneurs\, teachers\, trainers\, and students with practical tools\, and a Blueprint Strategy for Sectoral Skills Development in Tourism to respond to the fast-changing and increasing skills gaps in digital\, green\, and social skills sets. The consortium announces the final online conference “The transition of green\, digital and social skills development in tourism” –  will take place on the 9thh of June as an online event. \n  \nThe Conference Concept \nDivided into four modules\, the online conference will bring together tourism stakeholders from government and policymakers\, to industry and education and training institutions on European\, national\, and local/regional levels. The program is filled around four major topics\, discussing current and future needs and the transition of green\, digital and social skills development in tourism. Every module focuses on topics such as ‘Collaborative framework on skills development and the NTG Blueprint’\, ‘Innovation in Education\, Skills Training\, and curriculum development’\, ‘Assessing skills gaps and future skills needs in tourism’\, ‘The road ahead on skills in tourism – Pact for Skills and PANTOUR’.  \nThe conference will also showcase the work done under the Next Tourism Generation project and highlight how the Blueprint project will stimulate the Transition Pathway regarding skills and how the project feeds into the Pact for Skills in Tourism. \n  \nIntroduction of the Conference Theme \nIn the coming years\, opportunities will arise to invest and create new jobs in the tourism sector. To support this expected growth and achieve a sustainable and competitive sector European countries will need a skilled workforce that meets current and future market demands in green\, digital and social skills. \nWhen planning the development of the tourism workforce and skills development\, it is important to note that the skills need of the tourism sector today is different from what the need in 2030 will be. There will be the emergence of new types of tourism businesses\, products\, services\, and professions\, requiring different competencies\, knowledge\, and personality attributes. Meeting these new demands will require concerted efforts and the Next Tourism Generation is taking a leading role in addressing emerging skills needs. \nOn June 9th international experts will deliver 4 modules of 1.5 hours\, and discuss key topics at the final NTG conference “The transition to  green\, digital and social skills development in tourism.” \n  \nAgenda \nModule 1 | 10:00-11:15 CET: Collaborative framework on skills development and the NTG Blueprint \nModerator: Rachelle O’Brien \nThe NTG Blueprint sets out a comprehensive methodology to respond to the needs of a new sectoral skills strategy that is innovative\, relevant and responsive to the current and future skills scenario in the tourism sector. The launch of the Pact for Skills in 2021 was also an important landmark that aligns with the Blueprint. The Pact addresses the need to reskill and upskill workers and the preparation for a greener and digital future and indicates that collaboration should be at the core of attempts to address skill needs.  \nThe NTG Collaborative Governance framework within the Blueprint provides guidance on successful collaboration which can support and assist the establishment of National/Regional Skills Partnerships (NRSPs)\, a key area of focus of the NTG Alliance and the Pact for Skills for Tourism. Additionally\, the skills agenda aligns with the Pact objectives of increasing resilience\, competitiveness\, and social fairness\, promoting a culture of lifelong learning\, building skills partnerships\, and building skills supply. \nLink to the livestream: NTG Final Conference – Module 1 – YouTube \n  \nModule 2 | 12:00-13:15 CET: Innovation in Education\, Skills Training\, and curriculum development \nModerator: Sheena Carlisle \nEducation and training are not separate to innovation\, resilience and post Covid-19 recovery of the tourism and hospitality sector. The three are intricately intertwined. In order to achieve a just\, resilient\, and truly agile sector\, the NTG Alliance advocate a regenerative approach\, enhancing the underlying capacity of individuals\, professional workforces\, and educational (eco)systems to be future-oriented and fulfill their potential. The quality skills standard framework builds recommendations to improve integration between industry and education and to adopt relevant skills into training and education programs. This session will discuss these issues and demonstrate the practical use and experience of the NTG toolkit resources with our three guest speakers: Julie Mullane\, lecturer based in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism\, TU Dublin; Daniel Tromans\, Senior Qualifications Manager\, Qualifications Wales; Irina Petkova\, Lecturer\, Varna University.  \nLink to the livestream: NTG Final Conference – Module 2 – YouTube \n  \nModule 3 | 14:00-15:15 CET: Assessing skills gaps and future skills needs in tourism \nModerator: Corné Dijkmans \nNew NTG skills products\, such as the Skills Assessment Methodology (SAM) and the NTG Skills LAB platform can be implemented and used at national and regional levels providing a benchmark\, tools\, and good practices for green and social skills to support sustainable development and digital and technological innovation within 5 sub-sectors operations. The NTG Skills Assessment Methodology is a research-based\, structural mechanism for the analysis of rapidly changing skills and skills needs in order to develop strategies for addressing skills gaps in the EU tourism sector. The NTG Skills LAB covers new skills for tourism jobs in three areas: digital\, sustainable\, and social skills. The LAB provides practical tools and support for tourism professionals\, employers\, education/training providers\, and Job Centers on how to improve skills in these areas for work in five tourism sub-sectors: Tour Operator and Travel Agents\, Destination Management\, Accommodation Providers\, Visitor Attractions\, and Food & Beverage Operations. \nLink to the livestream: NTG Final Conference – Module 3 – YouTube \n  \nModule 4 | 16:00-17:15 CET:  The road ahead on skills in tourism – Pact for Skills and PANTOUR \nModerator: Klaus Ehrlich \nThe Pact for Skills in Tourism\, launched at the end of February this year\, arrives at a critical moment. The overall trend of rapid changes in this sector was only accelerated by COVID-19 and recently\, by the Ukraine war.  The estimates that two-third of all new jobs and occupations until 2030 will be related to tourism only confirm the challenges that we face. Not only in the “standard” areas like digitalization and sustainability – with increasingly international and diversified markets\, but also the social and intercultural skills will gain relevance. In this session\, we will showcase how the Pact for Skills is a strategic approach to these challenges and how the upcoming Pantour consortium – standing for “Pact for Next Tourism Generation Skills” – will support it at European\, national and regional level.  \nLink to the livestream: NTG Final Conference – Module 4 – YouTube \n  \nSpeakers \nThe speakers below are confirmed. \n  \nAlessio Misuri \n \nHead of innovation and digital department of Dintec scrl\, the in-house company of Unioncamere\, he is strongly committed to the development of digital assessment models and support systems for business orientation through artificial intelligence technologies.  \nHe is part of the National Support team of the Next Tourism Generation (NTG) Skills Alliance project and National Skills Group on Tourism\, both coordinated in Italy by Unioncamere a \nHe is head of the unit coordinating the PID (Punti impresa digital) network: the network of Chambers of commerce to guide SMEs toward digital transformation and 4.0 technologies.  \nHe was a member of the OCSE Italian working group “Incentivising Business Investment in Skills”. SUMMARY:The Next Tourism Generation: Building a skilled workforce
DESCRIPTION:Conference The Next Tourism Generation: Building a skills workforce\n18 November 2021\, 10.00 – 17.15 CET\n  \nScroll down to jump directly to the live streams links and join one or more sessions on the 18th November 2021 starting at 10:00 CET \nIntroduction\nThe nature of the tourism industry is complex\, but it also has the potential to influence positive change. Commitment from all organizations in the tourism field is an essential factor in working together to rebuild tourism. It is necessary to develop an agile and future-proof sector\, both in the short and long term. This means investing in human capital whilst preparing for digital developments and planning for more sustainable and impactful tourism solutions. But how do we as a travel sector really make a difference so that it will also change? How do we enable connections between education\, industry\, and governments\, and what digital\, green\, and social implications are needed for future employment? During this conference\, we aim to bridge this gap by providing more information and context on the necessary skills that the industry demands and discussing how to Upskill and Reskill and collaborate. We partner with some of the best experts\, organizations\, and educational institutions working in tourism skills development and share insights from the Next Tourism Generation Project. \nThe public event will be held on 18 November 2021\, 10.00 – 17.15 CET\, and will take place online. In 4 modules of 1hours and 15 minutes\, experts will talk about key topics: \n  \nMODULE 1 – 10.00-11.15 CET: Upskilling and reskilling in tourism and hospitality \nKeeping track of rapidly changing skills needs and bridging skills gaps to cope with a world in constant flux are major challenges for tourism businesses\, education providers\, and governmental bodies.   This involves not only the acquisition of new skills but also life-long education and continuous re-skilling and up-skilling. This session will look at methods of how to keep track of rapidly changing needs. \nLink to the live stream: https://youtu.be/u_wNKkLB8Lo   \n  \nMODULE 2 – 12.00-13.15: Addressing skills needs with innovative collaboration \nAddressing skills needs requires that the gap between key stakeholders in education\, training\, government\, and industry be bridged. Collaboration is a useful approach to bridging this gap as it brings complementary knowledge and resources together from different fields of endeavor\, resulting in innovative solutions to complex problems. \nLink to the live stream: https://youtu.be/mb69_i1Cerk \n  \nMODULE 3 – 14.00-15.15: Integrating new skills into industry and education curricula \nThere is an urgency to support a dynamic level of agility within skills standards systems\, qualification regulatory bodies\, and training curricula to flexibly respond to changing employer skills needs. The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the need for such agility in responding to new workplace challenges. Although education and government processes exist to facilitate communication with employers to varying degrees\, what is lacking are activities to strengthen and improve employer voice in the governance and implementation of skills policies and skills auditing processes. There is a need to increase responsiveness by education and training providers to respond to employer skills gaps. To help achieve this\, employers should be able to access greater knowledge of the channels that lead to quality skills standards in education and training which can help employer engagement with training content. \nLink to the live stream: https://youtu.be/gliy6xUJ33U \n  \nMODULE 4 – 16.00-17.15: Envisioning a skills partnership in the tourism sector \nThe Pact for Skills in Tourism serves as a recovery strategy that implements an up/reskilling framework\, maximizing the potential of the tourism sector\, building resilience\, and meeting the challenges of the green and digital transition.  This in turn creates new job opportunities and paves the way to a skills partnership for the tourism ecosystem. SUMMARY:Digital Skills For PostCovid Tourism
DESCRIPTION:Digitization and global pandemic have radically changed the way we travel\n\n#CortinaDF2021 organizes a thematic roundtable on the state of the art of the #NTGAlliance Project and the needs of the tourism industry for new digital\, soft and sustainable “future-proof” skills. \nSpeakers: \n\n Carlo Fidanza – Member of the European Parliament\nCarlo Corazza – Head of the European Parliament Office in Italy\nRodi Kratsa – Tsagaropoulou – Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands\nEmmanuel Mounier – Secretary General eu travel tech\nCorné Dijkmans – Head of Corporate Research and Innovation\, Breda University of Applied Sciences\n\nModerator: Lobke Elbers\, specialist in digitization and technology in travel\, tourism and hospitality and communication manager of the NTG Project. \nInterested in this event? Read this teaser from Corné Dijkmans: \n“During the Cortina Digital Forum\, Corné will talk about the research on digital skills as conducted in the frame of the NTG project. Some findings are that higher levels of digital education in general are needed in tourism\, and that a better general understanding of digitization is needed\, such as in relation to AI\, VR/AR and data analytics. In general\, a shift is visible from “job & professions” to “learning & developing skills” (i.e.\, general skills are getting more important than tourism-specific skills). Furthermore\, since tourism is a human-centered industry\, “High Tech with a Human Touch” is needed. That is\, despite all technological developments the real added value lies in knowing on how to apply technology in a human-centered context\, i.e. to build and strengthen relationships\, to drive personalization\, and to improve digital conversations.” – Corné Dijkmans \nSign up to the event here.
